Championship Details – Teesside Owner-Driver Sprint 2026

The 2026 Teesside Owner-Driver Sprint Championship consists of 9 rounds, with each driver’s best 7 rounds counting towards their final championship total. This allows drivers to drop their lowest-scoring events while staying fully competitive across the season.

Points System

Points are awarded for heats and finals:

  • Heat Points: 50, 48, 46, 44 … (dropping by 2)

  • Final Points: 65, 58, 53, 50, 48 … (descending format)

Each driver’s heat and final scores are added together to produce their round result.

Race Format by Class

Bambino, Cadet & Inter Classes

These categories follow a structured progression format:

  • Saturday Qualifying sets the grid for Heat 1

  • Heat 1 finishing positions set the grid for Heat 2

  • Heat 2 finishing positions set the grid for Heat 3

  • Points from all three heats determine the Final starting grid

The Final awards the highest points of the round and completes each driver’s score for that event.

Junior & Senior Classes

Junior and Senior grids operate using a random grid system:

  • Drivers receive randomised starting positions across their heats

  • Points earned from the heats determine each driver’s Final grid position

This format rewards consistent performance across multiple heat races.

Championship Standings

Across the year, points from each driver’s best 7 rounds are combined to create the final Championship standings.
Rounds outside the best seven are counted as drop scores.

Drivers can enter at any point in the season, with all their completed rounds contributing to their ranking.

End-of-Year Awards

Champions from every class are invited to our Presentation Evening in February, where end-of-year trophies are awarded.

Additional special prizes, supported by our generous sponsors, are presented for standout performances throughout the season.
