The NRG Hire Championship returns for 2026, featuring six competitive rounds held at Teesside. The series is open to all drivers aged 16 years and over, as well as 14–15-year-olds who either hold a Race Licence, have substantial previous karting experience, or have been signed off through the NRG Academy Program.

Drivers aged 14–15 with extensive previous karting experience are still welcome to race in the main NRG Hire Championship; however, our new Junior Class offers the perfect opportunity for them to hone their skills by competing against racers their own age.

NRG Karting and Teesside Motorsport are dedicated to promoting racing talent in the region, and this championship continues to provide an affordable, competitive platform for drivers of all levels.

Race Day Times

• NRG Lights and NRG Juniors: On track 09:30
• NRG Heavies: On track 11:30

All drivers must arrive 45-60 minutes before their on-track start time for sign-on and the safety briefing.

2026 Championship Format

• 6 Championship Rounds
• Best 5 rounds count toward the final standings
• Each round includes:
• 10-minute Practice/Qualifying
• Two × 20-minute Race

Classes

• 95kg Class
• 85kg Class
• 75kg Class
• 65kg Class
• Junior Class (55kg minimum including ballast)

Race Grouping

To ensure competitive grids and the best racing experience:

• 65kg & 75kg classes race together
• 85kg & 95kg classes race together
• Juniors race separately with their own dedicated grid

Entry Fees & Registration

• £80 per round
• £20 one-off registration fee with your first entry

Bookings must be paid in full at the time of registration. Any unpaid entries are automatically removed.
Entries open on the Monday after each round and close at 12:00 midday on the Wednesday before race day.
